MOUNJARO

What is MOUNJARO?

The Mounjaro weight loss pen uses an innovative medication called Tirzepatide. Tirzepatide has been shown to effectively reduce energy intake, curb appetite, and promote feelings of fullness.

How does Mounjaro work?

Mounjaro targets receptors in the body that regulate blood sugar levels and appetite. Mounjaro makes maintaining a balanced diet and achieving a healthy weight easier.

It belongs to a class of drugs known as dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists.

How can I get Mounjaro?

Mounjaro, a scientifically proven prescription-only medicine, is now available from our prescribing Pharmacist. To obtain it, you will need to consult with our Pharmacist for a personalised prescription.

Can anyone take Mounjaro?

You must have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher or a BMI of 27 or higher with obesity-related health complications such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.

How do I use MOUNJARO?

Mounjaro is contained in a pen-like injector. You attach a very fine needle to the pen and insert it gently into the skin on the abdomen, upper arm, or thigh. It’s a weekly injection, and our Pharmacist will explain how to use it properly.

Mounjaro comes in five dose strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 12mg, and 15mg. Our Prescribing Pharmacist will gauge which one you should use monthly, starting from 2.5mg.

Are there any side effects?

You may not experience any side effects from Mounjaro, but if you do, they are usually mild and short-lived while your body adjusts to the medication and dose.

Common side effects, such as nausea, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, and bloating, mostly affect the gut for the first few weeks.

How safe is Mounjaro?

Mounjaro weight loss pens are approved for weight loss in the UK by The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Prescribed responsibly and supplied by regulated pharmacies, they are considered safe and effective treatments.

Who Should Avoid Mounjaro?

Some people should avoid using this medication. These include:

– Individuals with a history of pancreatitis or severe gastrointestinal disease.

– Pregnant or breastfeeding women (or those trying to become pregnant) as the safety of tirzepatide during pregnancy and lactation has not been established.

– Those with a personal or family history of thyroid tumours (specifically medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2))

Our Prescribing Pharmacist, understanding the unique needs and health history of each individual, will carefully consider all these factors after a personalised consultation.
This approach ensures that Mounjaro is the right choice for you.
