Closing on Saturdays at Neath Pharmacy

Published On : 24th May, 2025

What It Means for Your Health and Care:

The Health Dispensary is committed to adapting and thriving in a rapidly shifting healthcare landscape, always keeping your health and wellness at the forefront. After Saturday, 7th June 2025, our Neath pharmacy branch will cease operations on Saturday mornings. This is a thoughtful decision aimed at enhancing the quality of our services and agreed with Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Why Neath Pharmacy is Closing Saturdays

The decision to close Neath Pharmacy on Saturdays reflects our commitment to adapting to the changing healthcare landscape while prioritising patient care and staff well-being.

Impact on Patient Care

As GP surgeries do not operate on weekends, we have fewer patient visits on Saturdays. The shift allows us to reallocate our resources more effectively and enhance patient care throughout the week. We can provide more focused and comprehensive services when demand is highest.

We’re introducing new clinical services, including prescribing and advanced care options, to meet the changing needs of our patients. We’ll also be dedicating more time and resources to health education and preventative care, helping people live healthier, happier lives.

Focusing Resources Where They’re Needed Most

Community pharmacies have faced significant challenges over the past decade, with NHS funding reductions and changes impacting how we deliver care. At Neath Pharmacy, this change to our Saturday opening hours is part of a wider strategy to ensure the long-term sustainability of essential NHS services.

By optimising our operating hours, we can manage costs more effectively without compromising the quality or accessibility of care. It also enables us to reinvest in services and technology that bring direct benefits to our patients.

Supporting Our Dedicated Team

The Saturday closure significantly benefits our hardworking team, promoting a healthier work-life balance, enhancing recruitment and preventing staff burnout.

A well-rested and satisfied team provides better patient care. Our staff will have more energy and focus during the week, ensuring you receive the best possible service and attention.

This new schedule also allows for more comprehensive staff training sessions, keeping our team up-to-date with the latest healthcare practices and technologies.

Accessing Services Anytime

We’ve worked hard over the years to blend the convenience of digital solutions with the warmth of face-to-face support – and we’re excited to take this even further.

From August, we’ll be receiving electronic prescriptions from your Doctors – a more efficient, paperless way to manage your prescriptions. We’re fully prepared for this positive change and will soon be asking for your consent to get everything set up.

We believe in combining the best of both worlds – technology to make access easier, and real people who care when you need that personal touch.

Real care. Real people. Always with heart 💛

24/7 Prescription Collection Points

We’ve invested in three secure prescription collection points that are accessible around the clock. These innovative solutions ensure you can pick up your medications at your convenience, even when we’re closed.

The collection points are easy to use – for those unfamiliar with the system, our team will gladly provide a demonstration during your next visit.

Online Health Information and Support

Our website, thehealthdispensary.co.uk/, is your 24/7 resource for health information and support and is continually evolving. You can access reliable health information and find support for various health concerns. We regularly update our content to provide the most current and relevant information.

Virtual Appointments

We’re proud to offer a growing mix of digital and face-to-face services, so you can access support in a way that suits your lifestyle – without losing the personal touch we’re known for.

Online Chat – 24/7 support with a blend of smart technology and real people

Our online chat is designed to give you quick answers, any time of day or night. You’ll often be helped straightaway by our intelligent system – and if you need more personalised support, a real member of our team will be on hand to step in. It’s the best of both worlds: fast, friendly and always there for you.

And remember, if you ever need health advice outside our opening hours, you’re not alone.

📞 NHS 111 is available 24/7 for expert guidance and support – simply call or visit 111.nhs.uk

💊 You can also check the local pharmacy rota to see which pharmacy is open near you for urgent needs.

Together, we’re here to make sure you’re supported – day or night, weekday or weekend.

Caring for your health – with heart, always 💛
