What Is Ovex Family Pack 4 Tablets?

Ovex Family Pack 4 Tablets treats threadworm (pinworm) infections in adults and children over 2 years of age.

Each tablet contains 100mg of mebendazole. This medicine stops worms from absorbing glucose. As a result, the worms lose energy and die.

Because threadworm spreads quickly within households, prompt treatment is important.

Who Should Use It?

Ovex suits adults and children over 2 years.

However, it is not suitable for:

  • Pregnant women

  • Breastfeeding women (unless advised by a healthcare professional)

  • Children under 2 years

Therefore, a pharmacist will check suitability before supply.

What Does the Pack Contain?

The pack contains four single-dose tablets.

Therefore, you can treat up to four family members at the same time. This matters because reinfection often occurs if only one person receives treatment.

The tablets are orange-flavoured. In addition, you can chew or swallow them whole. If needed, you may crush them for younger children.

How Does Threadworm Spread?

Threadworm spreads through microscopic eggs.

For example, eggs transfer via:

  • Unwashed hands

  • Bedding and clothing

  • Towels

  • Bathroom surfaces

As a result, once one person becomes infected, others in the home often follow.

How to Take Ovex

Take one tablet as a single dose.

Importantly, treat all household members at the same time unless advised otherwise. This approach reduces the risk of reinfection.

If symptoms return, you may take a second dose after two weeks. However, if symptoms persist, speak to a pharmacist.

Hygiene Measures Matter

Although Ovex kills adult worms, it does not immediately destroy eggs. Therefore, hygiene remains essential.

For example:

  • Wash hands thoroughly before meals

  • Keep fingernails short

  • Change underwear daily

  • Wash bedding regularly

  • Clean bathroom surfaces carefully

Because eggs can survive for several days, consistent cleaning significantly lowers reinfection risk.
