A full body massage involving a sequence of moves that manipulate soft tissue and muscles.
Massage therapy may produce feelings of relaxation and well-being by easing muscle tension. Massage may also help with stress relief, aching joints and promote well-being.
Other benefits of Massage are believed to include
- Pain Relief e.g. back pain and lower back pain, shoulder pain
- Improved circulation of blood and lymph
- Better Recovery from injury
Massage is only now building a body of evidence to support its use. The National Institute for Clinical evidence (NICE) recommends it for patients with persistent, non-specific lower back pain.
What can I expect from a massage session?
Suitable for most adults, all treatments begin with a private consultation to make sure it is right for you. Confidential records are kept of treatment sessions and any advice that’s given.
Sessions generally last up to an hour, towels being used to ensure your modesty. The therapist may use oils and creams during the massage to give glide or flow- known as effleurage.
What should I do after a Session?
After the session rest is best. This aids the body’s natural healing process. Drinking plenty of water may help to flush away toxins released by the massage.
