Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind where you are relaxed and the brain is receptive to suggestion. Most people simply feel relaxed. Hypnotherapy is a two way process with therapist and client, where this state of mind can be utilised to produce positive life changes like stopping smoking and losing weight, or to overcome negative events such as trauma or abuse.
A person cannot be hypnotised unless they agree and cooperate and you are not going to do anything you do not want to do.
How does Hypnotherapy work?
There is a change in brain wave activity, when the alpha state is entered – similar to just before you fall asleep. In this dreamy, pleasant state, the subconscious mind is open to visualisations. The more real this sensory experience becomes the more effect it will have on your waking behaviour.
What happens in the first session?
This is an opportunity for to meet the therapist and find out if you can work together. You can find out more about the types of therapies and how many sessions you may need. You don’t have to book any further sessions and you are given a relaxation CD to take away with you.
